Questions Pennsylvania homeowners ask

How fast can you get someone out when the AC quits in July?

Call us and we will give you a real window, usually same day or next day depending on how the day is running. Before we arrive, check that the thermostat is set to cool and has fresh batteries, look for a tripped breaker, and swap a clogged filter. Those three take five minutes and sometimes solve it. If the outdoor unit is buried in grass clippings or mulch, clear a couple of feet around it.

Why does my house feel clammy even when the thermostat says 72?

That is a humidity problem, and it is the most common call we get through Pennsylvania's muggy summers and wet shoulder seasons. An air conditioner that is oversized cools the air fast and shuts off before it pulls enough moisture out. Leaky return ducts in a vented crawlspace also drag damp outside air into the system. We measure airflow and static pressure, check the refrigerant charge, and look at duct sealing before anyone talks about new equipment.

My furnace runs but the upstairs stays cold. What is going on?

Usually it is distribution, not the heater. We check filter loading, blower speed, closed or blocked vents, and duct runs that lost insulation or came apart in an attic or crawlspace. Undersized returns on the second floor are common in older homes here. If the furnace is short cycling or the flame looks wrong, that is a separate diagnosis and we handle it on the visit.

I smell gas near the furnace. What should I do?

Leave the building right away, take everyone with you, and do not touch switches or the thermostat. From outside, call 911 or your gas utility. Same response if a carbon monoxide alarm sounds. Once the utility has cleared the house, call us and we will inspect the heating system, the heat exchanger and the venting before anything gets fired back up.

Do you cover my part of Pennsylvania?

We serve homeowners across the region, and the city pages linked on this page show where we work. If you do not see your town, call anyway. We cover Pennsylvania along with Washington DC, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, and the list of cities does not catch every neighborhood.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose the whole system

We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
  • Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
  • Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
  • Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
