Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic

Air Duct Cleaning

We clean residential air duct systems across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina and Washington DC, pulling built-up dust, insulation fibers and debris out of supply and return runs. Homeowners usually call after remodeling work, after a rodent problem in a crawlspace, or when registers blow visible dust every time the blower starts. If that sounds like your house, call us and describe what you are seeing. We will ask about your ductwork location and set a time to look at it.

What the job actually involves

We start at the air handler and work outward. A vacuum unit connects to the trunk line to hold the system under negative pressure, then we agitate each branch with brushes or air whips so loosened debris travels toward the collection point instead of into your rooms. Registers and grilles come off and get cleaned separately. Return boxes and the blower compartment get attention too, since that is where most of the settled dust ends up. We put everything back and run the system before we leave.

What we check while we are in there

Ducts in a vented crawlspace tell you a lot. We look for crushed flex, disconnected boots, sagging runs holding water, torn insulation and gaps at the plenum that let humid crawlspace air straight into your supply. We check the filter slot for bypass, because air going around a filter is why ducts get dirty fast. If we find damage or a sealing problem, we show you photos and explain what repair would involve. Cleaning a leaky duct system only buys you a short reprieve.

How we decide cleaning is the right call

Cleaning helps when there is real debris to remove. Visible dust dumping from registers, evidence of rodents or nesting, construction dust through the system, or heavy fiberglass shedding are all good reasons. Musty smells in a damp shoulder season are often a moisture or drainage problem instead, and we would rather fix that than sell you a cleaning that does not solve it. If your ducts are reasonably clean and your filter is doing its job, we will tell you to skip it.

Air Duct Cleaning — quick answers

How often do air ducts need cleaning?

There is no fixed schedule. Most homes go many years between cleanings. Trigger events matter more than the calendar: remodeling, pests, water intrusion in a crawlspace, or a long stretch with a bypassed or missing filter.

Will air duct cleaning fix my allergies?

We do not promise that. Cleaning removes settled debris from the ducts, which helps if the ducts are the source. Filtration, humidity control and sealing crawlspace leaks usually do more for indoor air quality complaints.

Do you use chemical fogging or sealants inside the ducts?

Not as a default. We clean mechanically with vacuum and agitation. If there is a specific reason to treat a surface, we explain what it is and why before doing anything, and you decide.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose the whole system

We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
  • Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
  • Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
  • Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
