What the job actually involves
We start with a heat load calculation on your home rather than matching the BTU rating of the old unit, since oversized furnaces are the most common reason a house feels drafty and uneven. Then we remove the old furnace, adapt the plenum and return, run new PVC intake and exhaust piping through a wall or roof, and set up condensate drainage with a pump or gravity line. Gas piping and electrical connections get reworked to suit the new equipment, and we test everything before we leave.
What we check and install
Ducts get inspected first, especially the long runs through vented crawlspaces that are common across the region. Loose joints, crushed flex and missing insulation will undo a good furnace, so we seal and repair what we find. We check the return air path, filter size and static pressure, since high-efficiency blowers are sensitive to restriction. Installation includes the furnace, venting, condensate handling, a compatible thermostat and a filter cabinet sized to breathe. If you have a cooling coil in the cabinet, we confirm it matches the new airflow.
How we decide it is the right call
Sometimes a heating repair is the smarter money, and we will say so. We look at age, the condition of the heat exchanger, how often you have called for furnace repair, and whether parts are still available. If the ducts are in poor shape, we address them either way. An upgrade makes the most sense when the equipment is near the end of its life, your damp shoulder seasons leave the house clammy, and the duct system can support better airflow. We put the reasoning in writing.

Why does a high-efficiency furnace need new venting?
Condensing furnaces cool the exhaust enough that it will not rise up a masonry chimney. They vent through PVC pipe out a sidewall or roof, with a separate intake, so the old flue usually cannot be reused.
Where does the condensate go?
A condensing furnace produces water that is mildly acidic. We run it to a floor drain by gravity where the layout allows, or install a condensate pump. In crawlspaces we route the line so it cannot freeze or back up.
Will an upgrade fix uneven rooms?
Only if the ducts can carry the air. New equipment with leaky, undersized or uninsulated crawlspace ducts still leaves far rooms cold, so we measure airflow and repair the distribution as part of the work.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.
- Step 2
We diagnose the whole system
We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.
- Step 3
You approve the fix
We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us
- Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
- Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
- Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
- Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
