Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic

Whole-Home Air Purifiers

We install and service whole-home air purifiers inside your ducted heating and cooling system, for homeowners across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. This is the right call when filters alone are not keeping up: dust settling days after cleaning, musty air in damp shoulder seasons, or allergy symptoms that follow the blower coming on. Call us and describe what you smell and when. We will look at your equipment, your ductwork and your filter setup before recommending anything.

What the job involves

A whole-home purifier is built into the return side of your air handler or furnace, so every cubic foot of air passing through gets treated. Depending on the system, that means cutting and sealing a new filter cabinet, running low-voltage or line-voltage power to the unit, and making sure the added resistance does not choke airflow. We measure static pressure before and after. On older ranches with tight mechanical closets, we sometimes have to rework a plenum transition to make room. That work is part of the install, not an extra surprise.

What we check or install

First we look at your existing filter: size, condition and how well the rack seals, because a one-inch filter with air bypassing around it is a common cause of dust complaints. Then we check ductwork in crawlspaces and attics for open seams pulling in humid, musty air. From there we size the purifier to your blower. Options include deep media cabinets, electronic air cleaners and ultraviolet or oxidizing units at the coil. We explain what each one actually addresses so you are choosing on evidence.

How we decide it is the right call

A purifier fixes particles and odors. It does not fix a wet crawlspace, a leaking return or a system that cannot dehumidify. So we rule those out first. If your duct leakage is high, sealing comes before purification, otherwise you are cleaning air that is being diluted with crawlspace air anyway. If humidity sits above sixty percent all summer, we talk about dehumidification too. When filtration genuinely is the gap, we say so and give you a plain comparison of the options that fit your equipment.

Whole-Home Air Purifiers — quick answers

Will a whole-home air purifier help with humidity or musty smells?

It can reduce odor-causing particles and biological growth at the coil, but it will not lower humidity. Musty smells in damp shoulder seasons usually trace back to crawlspace air, duct leaks or standing water. We check those first.

Does a purifier replace my regular filter changes?

No. Most whole-home units use a deep media filter that still needs replacing, typically once or twice a year instead of monthly. We will show you the size, where it sits and how to tell when it is loaded.

Can my current system handle the added airflow resistance?

Often yes, but not always. Older blowers and undersized return ducts can struggle. We measure static pressure before recommending anything, and if your system is already tight on airflow, we address that first.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose the whole system

We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
  • Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
  • Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
  • Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
