Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic

Central AC Installation

We install central air conditioning systems in homes across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia and Washington DC. Central AC installation is the full job: new outdoor condenser, new indoor coil, refrigerant line work, electrical connections and a thermostat that talks to all of it. Homeowners usually get here after a compressor failure, a system past its useful life, or repeated air conditioning repair calls in one summer. Call us and we will walk the house, measure, and give you a written plan before anything comes out.

What a central AC installation involves

We start in the house, not the driveway. We measure rooms, look at window area and insulation, and check the duct runs, which in older homes often means crawling a vented crawlspace to find crushed trunk lines and disconnected boots. Then we size the system in BTU terms for the load we actually measured. On install day we recover refrigerant from the old unit, set the new condenser on a level pad, fit the indoor coil, run and pressure test line sets, wire the low voltage and commission the system with gauges on it.

What we check and install

Beyond the equipment itself, we look at the pieces that decide whether it runs well for years. That means the condensate drain and pan, the float switch, the disconnect and breaker sizing, the filter cabinet and whether it seals, and the return air path back to the air handler. Undersized returns are a common find in ranch homes. We also seal and support duct in the crawlspace where it matters, set the airflow to the coil, and check refrigerant charge by measurement rather than guesswork.

How we decide replacement is the right call

We would rather fix a system than sell you one, so we say so when an air conditioner repair makes sense. Replacement usually earns its keep when the compressor has failed, the coil is leaking refrigerant in more than one spot, the system uses a refrigerant that is hard to source, or you have paid for AC repair two or three summers running. Humidity is the other tell. If the house feels clammy at the set temperature, the system is likely oversized and short cycling, and a properly sized replacement fixes that.

Central AC Installation — quick answers

How long does a central AC installation take?

Most straight swaps finish in a day. If we are correcting duct in a crawlspace, moving the air handler, or running new line set through finished walls, plan on two days. We tell you which before we start.

Do I have to replace the furnace at the same time?

Not always. If your furnace is newer and the blower matches the new coil's airflow needs, we can pair them. If the furnace is aging or the cabinet will not accept the coil, replacing together avoids a second teardown.

Will a bigger system cool my house faster?

It will cool faster and dehumidify worse. Oversized equipment short cycles, so the air gets cold while the moisture stays, and summers here feel damp. We size to the measured load so the system runs longer and drier.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose the whole system

We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
  • Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
  • Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
  • Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
